Since it's already almost May, I thought I'd self-evaluate how I'm doing on my resolutions. I decided I'd just write down things I was proud of accomplishing so far this year, whether it was a resolution or not. Because hey, don't we all need a boost of self-confidence now & then?
A. Recycling a lot more
B. Started a second blog (this one!) as a creative outlet
C. Started writing articles for HubPages
D. Trying my best to be a good mom
E. Taking more pictures
F. Taking more pictures of myself (see above!)
G. Posting pictures on flickr.com & expanding my photography skills
H. My commitee placement on Junior League for next year
I. Exploring my creativity
J. Attending church on a regular basis
Now if I could add "caught up on scrapbooking" I'd really be a happy camper!
What are some goals that you've accomplished so far this year?
Most days, after Mason is in bed (with the exception of this week) I feel like a sponge, soaking in scrapbooking ideas, interesting photography, funky new music & artwork, and trying to remember to enjoy everyday details.
Here are my sources of CONSTANT inspiration:
Ali Edwards: She has been a fave of mine for a long time now and isn't quitting anytime soon. Ali is a self-proclaimed "life artist" and everyday details are everything to her. Her work has opened my eyes to the little things that happen during a day (especially now with a child involved) that deserve attention and remembrance. I love her style--it's so real & refreshing.
Elsie Flannigan: Elsie adds a fun, funky, retro artsy twist to everything she touches. Not only is she an awesome scrapbooker, but she's also a painter and has a store on Etsy. She reminds me to let loose a little...
flickr: an unending source of photos that dealve into the lives of us all. Truly universal, intriguing and mind-opening.
My Creating Keepsakes Inspiration Binder: I've been a subscriber to this magazine since 2002 and my heart still skips a beat when it arrives in the mailbox. Keeps me on top of the latest scrapbooking trends.
I'm in the process of going thru each issue (yes, dating back to 2002!) and tearing out pages that I want to keep for inspiration. I'm putting them into a HUGE 3 ring binder with page protectors inside. (PICS ABOVE) That way I can flip thru anytime I need a quick fix. So far it's 250 pages! I'm totally in love with it right now!
HubPages articles: I really love browsing other writer's articles and I'm enjoying writing my own as well. It's really given me a boost of confidence in my writing and I like the "ongoing project" feel of writing articles.
Mason: Of course my sweet boy gives me constant subject matter to scrapbook and makes each day worth while!

I ordered this handy little key fob called a "wristlet keychain" from the Jimmy Pickles shop on Etsy a few nights ago. I think it'll come in handy when getting Mason in & out of the car while juggling 5 other things. (it goes around your wrist) They have tons of different patterns and they're only $8, including shipping! Not to mention, when you buy items off Etsy, you're supporting artists and getting high quality handmade products. I love to browse and see what others have made!
Fresh new look for the blog (quite Springy, huh?)
I have been scrapping like crazy the last few days (finally!) I've completed 3 one- page layouts and 3 two-page layouts! (that's 9 pages total, but who's counting?) I'm trying not to sacrifice quality for quantity and I think I've found a happy medium. I hope to post some pics of my new layouts very soon!
These are my Mom's beautiful button eggs that she had out for Easter. She made them with styrofoam, buttons, and straight pins and they're like the button trees I made us at Christmas time. They're easy and fairly inexpensive to make but look so detailed and pretty--just thought I'd share!
