Ok, I'm posting this here (on this poor neglected blog) instead of my ETSY SHOP or Fiddlesticks blog because I'm totally undecided whether or not I actually Want to sell it!! :) I mean, it could have a nice home in our Razorback office pretty easily...

Paint Supplies
Since several people have asked me what paint & supplies I use, I thought I'd just do a quick post about it.
I use the brand Amsterdam (formerly called Van Gogh-some of the tubes still say that) of acrylic paint from Hobby Lobby. They come in a tube and are the less expensive kind that they carry. I also get my canvases from Hobby Lobby (they go on sale frequently) and the wooden frames come from Wal-Mart (as of now.) As far as brushes go~I HATE natural hair bristles. They leave yucky streaks in the paint (maybe I'm not using them correctly) but I would definitely recommend using synthetic nylon brushes. The paint goes on so much smoother.
Hope this helps!

Crown Painting & Paisley Frame
I made this crown painting for Maggie's birthday gift. It's so nice to create girly stuff for a change!
This paisley frame is just for ME! I love this picture of Mason in it. It was pretty time-consuming, but worth it.

New Funky Frame and the Letter "G"
My latest creations are:
This "G" that my friend, Lela asked me to make for her daughter's room. The colors didn't show well in these pictures, but you get the idea.
And this fun, bright, girly frame that is up for grabs! ($22 if you're interested!)
The frame itself is almost 8x10 and the opening is 4x6. Hot pink & bright green--looks cuter in person.

Here's my latest painting (my new fave)
8x10 acrylic on canvas
Can't you just imagine a big chunky gold ornate frame around this baby?

Door Hanger & Hand Print
These are my latest projects (along with a few others that I STILL can't show until they're done!) The first is a door hanger that I made to hopefully sell or give as a gift. The picture doesn't do it justice--I couldn't seem to get the lighting right again. It says, "Shhh...The Prince is Sleeping"
I painted this canvas (and Mason's hand) to make this keepsake. When he turned one, I had him make hand prints to give at his birthday party as favors. I plan on transferring one of those onto a canvas as well so that I can continue to do this each year. We will eventually have many hand prints and can make a wall collage of them! I added the date on the side of the canvas.

8x10 Flower Painting
As promised, here is one of the paintings I finished recently. It's actually the first one I started when I first began to paint. The flower is faux leather and is attached with a brad. The dots look almost black on here, but they match the green flower.

A few of my latest projects
The paintings I promised to show you are STILL not completed. I just haven't made it back to Hobby Lobby to get the last few supplies I need, so I'm at a stand still with those for now. Maybe I'll make it there this afternoon (if it stops raining) or tomorrow. I'm just dying to get them done.
Here are some letters I made a few weeks ago. The "S" is up for grabs (anyone want to buy it for say, $10?) but the "J" is reserved for a certain someone who MIGHT be having a boy (you know who you are--and no, it's not me!)
I've just been playing around with my supplies and these distressed letters are fun to make!

I heart paint
I have some new paintings to post soon that I'm so excited about! (two are almost finished and the other is a gift, so I can't show you just yet!)
I'm really loving this & have so many ideas with where I want & need to go with it.
I think this is what I love most about creating. The rush of ideas and excitment that pours out of you that makes your head spin with the possibilites.
What makes you feel like that?

Painting for Sydney
I decided to practice my new hobby of painting by making a birthday gift. Sydney is my good friend Heather's daughter. Mason and I went to her birthday party last Sat. (& had a great time! I forgot my camera though) She's redoing her bedroom in these bright colors with a tropical theme. I'm happy with how it turned out, especially for it being my 3rd painting. I know I'll improve the more I practice & it's pretty fun to do. I also used a staple gun for the first time! (to attach the ribbon) I used acrylics on an 11x14 canvas.
P.S. She loved it!

Painting
I have finally started painting! I've been eager to paint for a while now and I'm so excited to get started. I'm learning as I go, as with anything. I plan to paint whimsical/children's art and who knows what else. It's all uphill from here!
Here's a sneak peek:
